Privacy policy

Last updated: 1 September 2026. This policy covers binandbasket.com. It is written to be read rather than to be survived.

The short version

• We do not have user accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing stored about you as a person.
• We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read. It is configured for aggregate traffic reporting, not for identifying individuals.
• If you use the contact form, the message and the email address you give us are emailed to us so we can reply. That is the only personal data we ever hold.
• Buy links pass through a redirect on this site and then to the retailer. The retailer sets its own cookies at that point and its privacy policy applies from then on.
• We do not sell data. We do not have data to sell.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4. It records page views, referrers, approximate location at a country or region level, device type and browser, and a small number of events we fire ourselves — principally when someone clicks a buy link, so we can see which recommendations are useful.

We use it to answer questions like "is the fit guide being read" and "do people who read the comparison pages click through". We do not use it to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine it with any other data set because we have no other data set.

Google is the data processor for this and its own privacy terms apply. If you would rather not be counted, browser-level tracking protection and ad blockers stop the script loading, and nothing on this site breaks when they do.

The contact form

If you send us a message, we receive your name, your email address, an optional phone number if you choose to give one, and the message itself. That email is delivered to our inbox through Microsoft Graph and is retained in the inbox as ordinary correspondence.

We use it to reply to you and for nothing else. It does not go on a mailing list — we do not have one. If you want your message and our reply deleted, ask at info@binandbasket.com and we will delete them.

The form also carries two anti-spam mechanisms: a hidden field that only automated submissions fill in, and a timestamp of when the page loaded, used to reject submissions made in under three seconds. Neither collects anything about you. We also apply a per-IP rate limit, which means the IP address of a submission is held in memory briefly and never written anywhere.

Affiliate links and the /go redirect

Every buy button on this site points at a redirect on our own domain, which adds our retailer tracking tag and forwards you on. We do this so that changing a destination is a one-line change rather than a content rewrite, and so we can count clicks in our own analytics.

The redirect itself does not set a cookie and does not record who you are. Once you arrive at the retailer, that retailer's cookies and privacy policy apply, and Amazon in particular sets a cookie that attributes any subsequent purchase to us. We never see who you are or what you bought — Amazon reports aggregate commission per tracking ID. The commercial arrangement is described on affiliate disclosure.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics sets its own; blocking it prevents that entirely. Retailers set theirs once you arrive on their site.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us a message through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. In practice, the only personal data we ever hold is a contact-form message and the email address attached to it, so a request usually resolves in one email.

Write to info@binandbasket.com and we will action it. There is no form to fill in and no account to log into.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We do not maintain a mailing list, so there is no notification to send — the current version is always the one on this page.
