Editorial policy
What counts as a source, how picks are chosen and unchosen, how corrections are handled, and why two dates on every page are never the same field.
Sourcing standard
Every factual claim on this site falls into one of five categories, and each has a rule:

Where a figure cannot be verified against one of the acceptable sources, the page says "not published by the manufacturer" and moves on.
How picks are chosen
The full method is on how we pick. In summary: products are selected against the published specifications and the fit arithmetic for the situation the page is about, scored on four category-appropriate criteria, and every one carries a stated constraint under which you should not buy it.
Commission rate plays no part. Several products we recommend earn us nothing at all — see affiliate disclosure.
How picks are unchosen
- Discontinued or persistently out of stock. The pick is replaced, the page's content-updated date is bumped, and the change is noted.
- A specification turns out to be wrong. The figure is corrected, the ranking is re-checked against the corrected figure, and the correction is date-stamped.
- A better-documented alternative appears. Documentation quality is an explicit criterion on this site, so a competitor that starts publishing load figures can displace one that does not.
- We got it wrong. Said plainly, on the page, with the date.
Corrections
Report an error to info@binandbasket.com or through the contact form. Include the page and, if you can, the document that contradicts us — that makes the fix immediate rather than a research task.
We correct errors within the working week and date-stamp the correction on the page. A correction is not a silent edit: if a figure changes in a way that changes a recommendation, the page says what changed.

What we will not publish
- Testimonials or customer reviews. We have no customers in that sense and inventing any would be the worst thing available to a site like this.
- Star ratings or review counts, because we have no verified feed for them.
- Any testing, credential or tenure claim. No "we tested", no "hands-on", no "our lab", no "expert", no "years of experience".
- Estimated dimensions or load ratings. If it is not published, the page says it is not published.
- Prices in prose. Ever.
- Review or AggregateRating structured data. Our scores are editorial judgments about published specs, not test results, and marking them up as review ratings would misrepresent that to search engines.
Author and byline
Every page on this site is written by Scooter M., framed honestly as an enthusiast rather than an expert. The byline is not a marketing device: it is the person accountable for the figures. See about.
Advertising and independence
We accept no free products, sponsored placements or paid inclusion. No manufacturer has any input into what appears here or in what order, and none can buy any. The only commercial relationship is with the retailer at the point of sale, which has no stake in which product you choose.

Questions people ask
What sources do you accept for a specification?
The manufacturer's own installation manual or specification sheet, cited by document name. Retailer listings are not acceptable — they are frequently wrong and are not authoritative — and neither is another publisher's page or anyone's memory.
How do I report an error?
Email info@binandbasket.com or use the contact form, ideally with the document that contradicts us. We correct within the working week and date-stamp the correction on the page.
How often are pages updated?
Prices refresh daily. Main pages get a full specification re-check quarterly, secondary pages every six months, and any page is updated immediately when a pick is discontinued or an error is reported.
Why do you show two different dates on a page?
Because they are two different facts. 'Prices verified' is when the live price data was last refreshed; 'content updated' is when a human last changed the article. Conflating them would make both meaningless.
Why does the site not have customer reviews or star ratings?
Because we have no verified source for them. We do not have customers in that sense, and publishing ratings we cannot verify would undermine every figure on the site that we can.
